On the 8th of march, students of Modibbo Adama University of Technology (Mautech) visited FlexiSAF, they got to interact with many of our staff and learn about the different operations within an IT company.
Abdul Azeez Idris, one of our more experienced software developers, introduced the students to what we do and how we do it. He took the time to explain our our many products and the challenges faced by developers within the educational sector. The tools and techniques the software developers use in Flexisaf was one of the topics of discussion. They included Java as a programming language, Gradle as the build automation tool, Amazon Web services for hosting, Github for version control, Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) for storing images and JIRA for task management. The students were given a short career talk on their path to software development.
The 2nd group was lectured by our very own User Interface/User Experience designer, Mohammed Kori. He explained the basics of interface design and why it is an important part of development. His enlightening speech on the various ways to enter the IT Industry gave hope to the students who lack programming skills.
The excursion was an eye opener for students, who look forward to their return as Interns in the near future.
